Camera 35 St. John’s is a photography club based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, with almost 100 members from across the province who meet every other week from September to June. C35 was officially founded around 1979, but there is record of predecessor groups dating back to the early 1950s, comprising well-known St. John’s names, such as Ray Tooton, Maurice Wilansky, Ern Maunder, and even Gerald S. Doyle.
All members are encouraged to share photos with the club. After all, a photography club is about sharing your work, getting feedback, and learning. Most meeting agendas include plenty of time for Show and Tell and Critic’s Corner.
One of the many benefits of joining Camera 35 St. John’s is participating in competitions through Canadian Association for Photographic Art (CAPA) and in-club competitions. Our club is one of almost 90 CAPA member clubs across Canada!
Outings take place throughout the year and include many interesting and sometimes exclusive locations. Photography themes vary, including landscapes, portraits, sports, event, macro, and nature. Every year we plan a fun and engaging weekend photography trip!
Guest speakers share their work and adventures through captivating stories and discussion. The club has been fortunate to host many well known and international photographers with exceptional portfolios, including Joe McNally, Phil Penman, Jason P Howe, and Paul Zizka.
